Monitoring your body weight on a regular basis is something we all do to try to achieve weight-loss success. There is, however, some controversy as to how frequently weight should be measured.

      Hello everyone!

Hope your day was off to a great start this morning.  Let’s face it.  It was tough pulling myself out of bed this morning after being on “holiday mode”.   That’s why it took me so long to get this blog out today.  J

Mornings are especially tough when we don’t eat something that is very good and nutritious.  The experts say that breakfast jumpstarts the metabolism and gives you that boost of energy.  On my journey, I have learned one important thing.  People who have had successful weight loss and kept it off for at least a year all have one thing in common:  Breakfast!  That’s right…..and I am living proof of that statement.  J

Here are some quick tips for meal planning that will get you off to a great start every morning!  Try some of these tomorrow morning.

      Sample meal #1:  Breakfast Sandwich

      Smart Ones breakfast sandwich

      OR

The Bagel breakfast with Turkey bacon or scrambled eggs on whole grain bagel

      ·        1 Thomas' Whole Grain Bagel, lightly toasted (tip: Use a few sprays of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray on each half)

      ·        2 slices Jennie-O turkey bacon or 1/4 cup Egg Beaters with 2T reduced fat cheese

      ·        1 small apple, cut into slices

Directions:  Place bagel halves in toaster.  In a non-stick skillet, add two slices of turkey bacon or egg beaters (whichever you choose).  Spray bagel halves with butter spray.  Add the bacon or eggs to one of the bagel halves.  Top it with the other half.

Serves 1: approx. 360 calories.  Serve with apple slices.

Sample meal #2: Cereal and fruit parfait

      ·        1 cup Special K Red Berry or Blueberry cereal or 1/4 cup Bear Naked Fit Granola

      ·        6 oz. Yoplait Light yogurt, any flavor

      ·        1/2 cup Del Monte 'No Sugar Added' sliced or diced peaches

Directions:  Add cereal, then fruit to a bowl.  Add yogurt on top.  Serve immediately.  Serves 1: approx. 255 calories

      Sample meal #3Quesadillas

      Smart Ones breakfast quesadilla

      OR

      Tex-Mex Breakfast Quesadillas

      ·        1 Mission 96% Fat-free Heart Healthy Flour Tortilla with Omega 3

      ·        1/2 cup Egg Beaters

      ·        1/4 cup Kraft Fat-Free Shredded Cheddar Cheese

      ·        2T salsa, optional

Directions:  Place tortilla on a non-stick baking sheet.  Spray lightly with I Can't Believe it's Not butter spray.  Then, in a lightly sprayed skillet, pour in egg beaters and allow to cook until edges start to curl slight and start to brown a little.  Add in cheese and allow to melt.  Move skillet around to make sure eggs have stabilized.  Remove from pan with spatula and place them on top of the tortilla.  Fold over one half of the tortilla with the egg inside.  Lightly spray the folded tortilla and bake in 350 degree oven for about 10-12 minutes or until tortilla is crisp.  Cut into two halves.  Serve with salsa, if desired.

Serving size: 1. Approx. 235 calories

Sample meal #4: Heart Smart Pancakes

      Ingredients:

      • 1/2 cup Reduced-Fat Bisquick 210 calories/3.7 fat
      • 1/4 cup fat-free milk 25 calories
      • 2T cup Eggbeaters (equivalent of 2 eggs) 15 calories

      Directions:

Heat griddle or skillet over medium-high heat or electric griddle to 375°F; spray with cooking spray. (Surface is ready when a few drops of water sprinkled on it dance and disappear.)

Stir all ingredients until blended. Pour by slightly less than 1/4 cupfuls onto hot griddle.

Cook until edges are dry. Turn; cook until golden.

Serve hot, and top with your favorite zero or low-point toppings, such as fat-free butter spray, powdered sugar, Lite maple syrup (sugar free), and/or fresh berries.

      Yields: 3 pancakes or 1 big pancake (1 serving) = 270 calories/3.6 fat

I’ll be having one of these breakfast options tomorrow.  So, I’ll be blogging a lot earlier than today.  J

      See you then!

      Hey Everyone,

I would just like to say hello and send best wishes to everyone.  We were all courageous enough to take this step and we're all in this together.  If we look at it that way and use each other as a support system there should be no way that all of us can't reach our ultimate goals, whatever they may be.  So keep up the good work people.
