    • Description:

My name is Jodi, I am 38 yrs old and I am from Columbus, Ohio. In 2004 I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and had to have my thyroid removed. After 2 surgeries and several radio-active iodine treatments I am nearly cancer free. I'm not sure how long I had been living with a poorly functioning thyroid. Since that time I have been taking my synthroid and had hoped that would help with my weight problems, unfortunatly over the years I had developed poor eating habits and the weight was still coming on.

On November 6, 2008 I joined Weight Watcher's with a friend. I was hesitent and skeptical. I went in with a positive attitude and my eye on the prize. I had tried most of the "new" fad diets and over the counter methods and nothing worked. I was so nervous at the first meeting, I felt sick. I was afraid I was going to fail and wondered what was I doing there? I listened and I learned. I went home with the feeling, I think I can do this !! It all seemed easy enough and doable. The weeks passed and the weight was coming off. I was excited and with the excitement came determination. This really is working !!

Weight Watchers taught me how to eat right, get motivated and stay focued. In the past with other diets it always felt like you have to give up all thing taboo. WW allows you to still have the thing you want but in moderation. I don't think my success would be possible without the SmartOnes products. I work full time and have 2 kids so life can be hectic at times. Planning a WW friendly meal for the whole family is often not possible. I love that I can make a salad and pop in a SmartOnes dinner without the worry of how many points is this? SmartOnes I couldn't have done it without you !!!

It is now the beginning of October 2009 and I have lost a total of 114.4 lbs using the weight watchers plan and eating SmartOnes. Thank You I am eternally grateful !!!

  • My Weight Loss Story My Weight Loss Story

    • From: grammawong
    • Description:

I have been overweight all my life.  I can remember dieting as a child in elementary school.  I have tried every diet available – some were successful, some were not.  Nearly nine years ago, I came to the realization that if I did not lose weight, I would die.  I recovered from breast cancer surgery and chemotherapy 5 years prior.  I was suffering with diabetic lesions, and my blood sugar and blood pressure were alarmingly high and out of control.  I had been unable to tie my own shoes, go anywhere alone, and had not been to the grocery store in years as my legs and feet couldn’t withstand the walking.  Dining out with my family was a challenge as I didn’t fit in most chairs.  I required seat-belt extensions in the car and on airplanes.

So I began my WW journey.  In order to gain the courage to attend meetings, I lost 25 lbs. on my own.  My daughter had already joined, and encouraged me to come with her.  Now after losing 170 pounds, my life has changed dramatically!  Thanks to WW, I have my life back – my blood pressure and blood sugar are normal, I am no longer taking diabetes medication, I work out regularly, and am excited about accomplishing my first 5k walk!

There are several KEYS to my WW success.  I have been attending meetings faithfully for 9 years.  My leader is an inspiration, and I have made so many friends to whom I am accountable, and likewise them to me.  We watch out for each other and make contacts if someone is missing.  My wonderful husband is a lifetime member and attends with me every week.  I faithfully drink my water, faithfully journal every day, and follow the program to the best of my ability.  I have found a new love for cooking healthfully -- as 8 years ago I wasn’t able to stand in the kitchen long enough to even put a meal together.

I have approximately 70 more pounds to lose, and I am looking forward to that day of achieving my lifetime membership.  I know I’ll make it.  Slow and steady wins the race.  Weight Watchers has saved my life.

  • Taking CONTROL.. One Day At A Taking CONTROL.. One Day At A Time

60+ POUNDS lighter so far and definitely taking control of my life, it was a decision I had to make. I'm doing it with a LOT of help from Smart One's dinners too! Loving life & living it to the fullest after fighting and conqueroring cancer 5x.

I've had 3 operations for cancer removal, and 4 different types of cancer. I let my mind, spirit, & body fall apart until one day I woke up and realized that God gave me the GIFT of today... and I'm not opening the package!

I decided it was time to take charge of my life and my body and I haven't looked back since!

I'm a single mom to 3 beautiful kids. Twins (boy/girl) age 17 and oldest daughter age 20 who have been so supportive in my lifestyle change so far. I'm no longer battling the bulge, I'm taking over my body and my kids not only love to watch the transformation, but are my number 1 supporters.

I work out at the gym a MINIMUM of 5x a week but my workouts aren't typical at all. Having a crumbling spine and 8 herniated discs as a result of the treatments for the cancer, I can't work like most on equipment and machines. I opted to created my own workout because I was tired of using the excuse "I can't".  Now I run/jog almost daily 1 mile minimum, do a complete CORE and upper body workout all in the water.  Results are happening, life is changing and I'm finally in charge of myself & my body.

I blog about everything from my battles to my triumphs and love to share recipes I've created, re-designed or simply found.  I hope that my life can inspire someone else like me & if that happens I have done my job.

I am a 5 1/2 year breast cancer survivor.  After going through treatment, which put me into early menopause, I gained over 40 lbs.  I felt horrible and knew that extra weight wasn't good espicially when you have had cancer.  I knew I had to get it off.  Because I am over 40 and most of my weight gain came from early menopause, I was concerned that I would not be able to lose it.  In January, 2010 I joined Weight Watchers and was amazed at how easy it was!  I love to eat!!  Weight Watchers taught me how I could still eat the foods I love and lose the weight.  I have lost 16 lbs. in just four months!!  That is more than I had hoped for at this point.  My work schedule is really stressful during January - April and I had told myself that if I could just lose 5 lbs. during those months I would be happy. I am thrilled with my 16 lbs. and I am so motivated to keep going and I am even increasing my exercise activity.  Thank you Weight Watchers!!

  • The Big 50! The Big 50!

    • From: tiaturner
    • Description:

As the oldest of five children, I have always been in charge and in control.  This was the case until I graduated from college and began life in the real world.  I was married at 20.  I followed that by a child at 23, twins at 27, and the fourth at 28.  I also worked a full time job as an accounting and data processing manager for a oil and gas operator.  My kids participated in everything, so I quickly moved into "Super-Mom" mode.  By the time I was thirty, I was carrying 250 lbs on my 6'3" frame.  I was also taking two medications for blood pressure, but I didn't worry about me.  I just worried about getting everyone where they needed to be when they needed to be there, while still working.  The activities got worse as the kids got older.  Very seldom did we eat together and most nights, everyone just picked up something somewhere.

As I started approaching 50, I was 290-300.  My back hurt, my knees hurt, I was tired.  I had yoyo'd with different diets, but never keeping any of the weight off.  I was in the doctor's office for an annual checkup to get prescriptions refilled.  The list had expanded from the two blood pressure pills to include one for cholesterol and one for tryglicerides.  The doctor requested an xray of my back to see if there was anything that was causing the pain I was experiencing.

That started a wild roller coaster ride.  Within the next few days, I had an MRI, a biopsy of a mass on my lower spine and a possible diagnosis of lymphoma.  In less than a week, I had a port for chemo "installed" and was ready to go.  I had a PET scan the Saturday before the first chemo treatment on Monday.  As I am in the chair, hooked up, the oncologist comes in and tells me I have worse problems.  I have a 7mm tumor in my left kidney.  They found it on the PET scan.  Within three weeks, I was at MD Anderson in Houston having a left renal nephrectomy.  WOW!!!

In reading about this cancer, the major factors were obesity and smoking.  Yes, I was also a "closet" smoker.

Six months later, I began Weight Watchers with three friends from work.  I had lost down to 265 by the time I started.  Last Tuesday at my meeting I weighed 235.  I have lost a total of 60 lbs from my highest weight two and one-half years ago.  I am VERY aware of what I am eating, whether it is good or bad.  I cook breakfast almost every day and only eat out at dinner 3-4 times a month.  I cook a lot, but my husband and I both eat Smart Ones when we want something hot and quick.  Lots of times, we add a 0 point vegetable and a salad and have a whole meal.  They are definately a compliment to my weight loss goals.

I have also been working on being more active.  I do go the the gym a few days a week and I love to ride my bicycle.  It is much easier to move after some of the weight is gone.

I think I would love to be "skinny" like the girls in the magazines, BUT I know I will never look that way.  I don't even think I would look healthy at the Weight Watcher's goal weight.  I just want to know how eat right for my health and be able to manage eating that way.  I truly want to change my lifestyle.  I do not want to be on a diet and don't consider by change that.  I consider myself lucky to be given the chance to make this change and making myself a priority.  I also am trying to teach my grown children (28, 25, 25, 23) to take care of themselves now and not have to go through what I did.
