  • My Diet is on Holiday My Diet is on Holiday

    • From: Ashzita
    • Description:

I'm five days into a 3-week holiday to England and I feel like my diet has gone right out the window!

Some of the best things about England are the cheese (lovely, wonderful stilton), fresh bread (no added sugar or high fructose corn syrup), and, of course, fish and chips. I've allowed myself some treats while I'm here because I'm a huge advocate of rewarding myself after being so good for so long. I bought some stilton and have enjoyed it on crackers that past two nights. Last night we had fish and chips out at a country pub (shared it with my daughter, and managed to remove most of the fried batter), and I've forgone my usual oatmeal with blueberries for breakfast for fresh bread and eggs instead.

I'm under no illusion about gaining weight while I'm here. I know that I may add a few pounds back. Not just because of the lovely food I'm eating, but I'm not working out daily either. We're walking all over the place, but I know that it's not the same as a 2-hour session at the gym. However, the fact that we're active and enjoying ourselves means that we'll have a lovely holiday with no regrets.

The main problem I'm facing at the moment is that since I'm not used to eating rich food these days, I'm getting quite bloated. I have to watch what I'm eating simply because my body isn't used to it. I've had a few tummy aches!!

Regardless, I'm trying not to beat myself up when I have a treat while we're here. I'm also trying not to fall completely off the wagon, and have been trying to eat loads of fruit and veg whenever I have the chance. With a small daughter with me, I want to make sure she gets the nutrition she needs as well, which can be a challenge while on holiday, especially when she's surrounded by loads of family that want to give her candy and treats. But, heck, she's on holiday too, and this isn't our normal, everyday eating. She should be allowed to have some treats as well.

I'll end the rambling now. Besides, we need to get ready for our trip into London. I'm fairly sure that we'll indulge in some lovely London treats!!
