  • Are you working out hard enoug Are you working out hard enough?

    • From: Miss S.O.
    • Description:

I was reading an article that said working harder during your exercise routine (not necessarily longer) will yield the best heart and health benefits. Of course, any exercise is good exercise including long slower aerobic exercise. But, when you are running short on time and overall general better health and body fat reduction are goals we should think of working harder not necessarily longer.

What are your exercise goals? How long do you workout each day and what do you do?

Hi and welcome. I am also 5'3 and I weigh about 165. I'm a couple of decades older than you and weight really does creep up or I'd be telling you not to worry about that little bit of extra.

I do believe that rather than going on a restricted diet, it's healthier to eat properly - with "bad" foods out of your life (almost always!) and more activity into your life. That way, no matter which way the scale tips you can feel you are doing what you can to live as healthy person and then everyone benef

    • From: cjwilson

I recently came back to Weight Watcher's after being let go from a medical supervised weight loss program from a major hospital here is Missouri. The reason I was let go was because my doctor did not agree with one of their polices so the program removed me. As I left they told me I could continue to spend the $400-$500 a month a do there program from home on my own. I responded by telling them I did not need their program I could go to Weight Watchers

Put yourself first, make your health a number one priority!

Start your day with exercise, tell yourself you will do cardio for 15 minutes every morning. Make a commitment to that. It will start your day right, give y

I've found, first at the health food store then later at Kroger, mint waters that are very refreshing and 0 calories, no artificial sweeteners, just water and flavoring.  They have peppermint, spearmint, orange mint, lemon mint and even chocolate mint (think drinking a York Peppermint patty!).  I believe there are even berry flavors.  All are great straight from the fridge, or with ice added on extra hot days.  You can satisfy a sweet tooth/dessert desire and get more of your wat

Had at one time reached goal, then went on vacation and didn't make it to a lifetime. But I will get this weight off. Health is a problem. High cholesterol. So it is a must. Thank you W.W. for such good products. So far as of 2 weeks I have lost 15 lbs. I weigh in on Saturday, did take a sneak today and there is a loss. Will let you know tomorrow how well I do. Ho

I'll agree, prayer does help. There've been many times I've prayed for strength to stay away from the treat room here at work, and I've gotten the strenth. Good for you for realizing how important your health is. It took me 2 1/2 years to lose 112 lbs, but I got to goal and am now a Lifetime member. I still go to meetings, still track, I know that's a lifestyle for me now. Good luch to you, keep us posted on how you're doing.

Welcome, fannie1967. You've come to the right place. We are all on the same journey even if we are starting at different places. It is definitely harder to lose weight as you get older - for all kinds of reasons, hormonal and metabolical. We even have a thread about that somewhere. I always think it's at least in part too to our lives becoming much more demanding so that we give ourselves increasing permission to not deliberately seek exercise. The important thing is to remember that we need to keep eati

Spring is a time of renewal. It is a great time to make a new start and look at life with a fresh perspective. For me it is a time to renew my focus on those things that are most important in my life. My health, my family and my home.
