  • Best exercise for flabby arms?

My upper arms start to "wobble" a bit - any ideas for good exercise to counteract this?

I have always had what I call "wings" when I wave to someone. I have used hand weights to try to build up some muscle tone in the upper arm area. I would love to hear some suggestions too Jaycee!

Oh, definitely weights! I wish I could take my own advice. When I was using weights with exercise, even the little ones, I noticed such a difference in my arms, shoulders and upper back. It's actually quite shameful that I haven't remembered that more clearly and gone back to it. I think in fact, JayCee, you've prompted me to! I'm going in search of some small weights this week. Yay!

Although none of these are particularly well explained, I remember exercises where you lifted the weights bending your elbows straight out to the sides, ones where you lifted your arms straight out to the front, and a few where you put the weight behind your head - that last one just melted the fact from my upper back. I used to love touching my back there and thinking wow. Now just that thought is making me smile.

Great inspiration there GoingForIt, I think I have some of these weights somewhere that you can strap around your wrists, I must find them!

  • wall push ups

I learned one more in Aerobics  ---  stand  a step or so away from

the wall and angle your hands  push out and back putting your nose on the wall -  do this as many times as you can and try to add more as you go -

Great idea Holliday074! I will try these since regular push ups are difficult for me. Thanks for posting :)

Oh yes, Holliday074 - push aways, they call them. Really good exercise for the arms and upper back. Thanks for the reminder!

Thanks so much Holliday074 - I also find it difficult to do push-ups, and those sound like an ideal exercise to do "in between" things :-)
