I am starting the plan today. I don't know if I'm going it right, but here's the gist: I was going to get Jenny Craig sent to me. I live where there is no center, and the cost would be $600 month. I thought of NutriSystem. Cost would be about $400 month and the food, questionable.

So then I remembered my friend, who is once again a Skinny Minnie, and she lost all her weight (30lbs I think) by enjoying Smart Ones.

I am a foodie. I like the meals. I have done WW and am a lifetime member, still within my bracket, but climbing fast. We get 20 points a day, I had a fabulous breakfast, 6 points.... I can eat 2 more Smart ones today, plus drink milk. I think I can do this.

Let me know what your experience has been. I did not even realize others had my same fabulous idea!

    Hi Pandora,

Have you looked into the Weight Watchers® plan? You can either join meetings or do it online. It's easy to follow, and you can incorporate the lovely Smart Ones® meals into it!

    Hi Pandora,

I do a mix of Smart Ones and other food, but all is low fat, but I do allow my self a splurge ones a week which is a favorite burritto from a local place.  but I substitue at least one to two meals a day with Smart Ones and the Turkey and mashed potatoes are the best!.  I also track my points and within 3 months I have lost 25 pounds and it keeps melting off of me.

I do subscribe to WW online and it helps me track and I do not attend meetings and still seeing results.  But the key thing is the exercise for me....I try to do it in the mornings so I can get my metabolism up for the day.

Good luck and if you have any questions or want specifics let me know!

Thanks and good luck on your Journey.

    Hi Pandora,

I'm in the same boat as you :-) Earlier this week I purchased 100 bucks worth of smart ones food and deserts from Pathmark.  They were 6 for 10 bucks!  It's been 1 week and I'm down 5lbs. Since i'm seeing results I'm going to do the WW smart ones diet strictly until I reach my goal.  I find it's easier becase the points are calulated on the box so all I have to do is heat and eat which makes it easier for me to keep track. I say give it a try and good luck :-)

    Hi India B!

Many congratulations on the impressive weight loss of 5 lbs. I'm not sure what your end goal is, but you're obviously well on your way. Smart Ones makes it so easy to, like you said, "heat and eat". Well done, you!

Great post!  I believe that keeping it simple is the best way to go.  When you are headed to the gym, try and do 30-45 minutes of moderate cardio - and you can split it up into 10 minute intraverals if you need.  Then, spend the next 30 minutes lifting.  If you want to tone, do more reps per machine or exercise and use less weight and if you want to gain some muscle, do less reps with more weight.  Only workout 5 days, 6 at the most.  Your body needs a rest.  As for your meals, just keep it simple.  Stay away from cheese! If your a vegetarian, try grilling vegetables or portabello sandwiches.  And dont forget that it is ok to snack - just snack on the 100 calorie packs.
I use a site called www.FitClick.com.  This site has an online calorie counter that allows you to type in your food, portion size and then it shows you the nutrient value.  Good luck and remember, keep focused on your goal!

  • To Pandora - Smart Ones Diet Plan

    Pandora,

Smart Ones are excellent for starting a diet plan......get two weeks worth of meals at WalMart $1.88/each and I have been eating them for 6 weeks now and it works!  Your stomach shrinks, your in take goes down and the meals are good and filling!

Have them with plenty of water and good luck!  How much weight did you want to lose?

Yes I agree Smart Ones are tasy and economical. I usually buy them when they are on sale and stock up on them. I will have one for dinner and add some of my own fresh steamed veggies on the side. I also Love the desserts they have, but I try to buy them in moderation :)

Hi PandoraSpock! Nice to meet you.

Why not join WW Online so that you have some guidelines and support. Of course coming here and chatting to us, as well as starting a blog, will also be a great help. If money is an issue, there are free tools such as at Livestrong.com - they have a food and activity tool that is realy good.

You can use the Smart Ones meals to give yourself an idea of how big a meal should be, what proportions of each food is included - protein vs starches vs veggies (add some of your own veggies!) and then go for it. Some people eat Smart Ones at every meal or just one or two a day, and others eat them just when they're busy. Every activity hour also allows you to either lose more weight or eat a bit more food!

As for exercises, they say you can't target specific areas - you  lose weight all over - but walking, swimming, dancing, hula hoop and sit-ups are all tried and true for that weight around the middle! I use Wii Fit - money well spent for me!

And hello from me, PandoraSpock! Some great advice above - I would just like to add that you've taken the biggest step - decided to DO something about it! I can confirm that becoming more active is just as important as eating healthier meals - I found it easier to get started on that one in little instalments (say, 15 minutes exercise every morning) rather than trying to start with marathon sessions that just would have had to end in tears - like GoingForIt, I find the Wii Fit a great help, as it makes exercising look (and feel) like fun! I also love music, and dancing to my favourite songs is another fun way to get moving!

Keep us posted on here, I'm sure you can do it!
